It would seem that to jump higher you must increase your strength and endurance. Unfortunately, many vertical workout programs
do just that. In an almost counterintuitive manner, what you really want is to create a workout that encourages you to use a great deal of strength in a very short period of time. That kind of explosive energy release is what allows you to improve your vertical lift, endurance doesn’t help at all.
The first thing you need to know is that exercise programs that encourage you to do a lot of repetitions and sets are the worst thing. For the first few days, maybe even a couple of weeks, while you build up strength you didn’t have before, you will jump higher. As time goes by, though, your gains will diminish, and you will wonder what has gone wrong. The problem is that you are training the wrong type of muscle fiber, through no fault of your own.
Raw strength is important, but it has to be channeled properly. When you add flexibility to strength you are able to stretch higher, jump more smoothly and get more lift. Muscles that are at their maximum elongated state contract more strongly than already contracted muscles, so you get better results.
Balance is also critical if you are going to achieve good jump height. It is very nice to get a 25” jump, but if you are off balance when you land you are very likely to get hurt. The difference in landing force between 8” and 25” is enormous.
Of course, discipline is the key ingredient to any successful vertical workout. Get a good online program or a personal trainer involved in your plan. It isn’t unusual for athletes dedicated to their workouts to gain 2-3” a week at first, but it all comes down to doing the right exercises the right way.

Great post & Fantastic blog! I would definitely love to begin a blog too but I have no clue where to begin. I possess the ability to do it (not that challenging on the technical part) but I really feel like I am too lazy to post regularly. That is the problem, if you start you have to go all the way. However blogs like yours inspire me to have a go at it.
